It's True!
With Oranim, you can earn three academic credits from the Tel Aviv University - Israel's largest, most prestigious and respected institution of higher education - while having the time of your life. After examining the way in which our classic Let Israelis Show You Israel program exposes participants to the fascinating, multi-cultural society that is modern Israel, Tel Aviv University decided to participate with Oranim in creating a roving field school course entitled "Many Faces of Israel".
Unlike traditional classroom-bound courses, Many Faces of Israel will examine the communities, cultures and people of Israel through on-site encounters, interactive dialogues and visits to places that play a significant role in the history and making of modern Israel. There is no doubt that the experiential elements of the course will significantly contribute to the student's understanding of Israel and the Israeli people. Read the full course description.
Getting the Credit
For years, the academic establishment in North America has valued the primacy of on-site, experiential learning. Universities encourage students to study-abroad by allowing the transfer of academic credits earned at foreign universities and establishing "study-abroad" offices to assist students before, during and after their experience abroad. To earn the three academic credits (with a grade) from the Tel Aviv University by participating on the Oranim program, students must:
- Participate in and complete successfully the Oranim - Let Israelis Show You Israel trip
- Pre pay tuition of $450 USD / $450 CAN plus a registration fee of $50 USD / $70 CAN.
- Successfully complete academic requirements (research essays) given after the trip.
- As in almost all study abroad plans, students may have to submit transcripts and other course materials to their home university for credit approval. Oranim and the Tel Aviv University encourage participants to coordinate the transfer of the Tel Aviv University credits in advance of your departure.
- Paper must be submitted within one calendar year of the date of your Oranim trip.
Please note: Upon the completion of payment and registration you will receive a reader of articles to assist you in your research. The academic requirements consist of a "take home" essay for you to prepare and submit within a timeframe of your return to North America.
